EATING THE FORBIDDEN FRUIT

OVERVIEW

In this Bible lesson, we learn about how sin entered the world through Adam and Eve. When God created the world, He said it was good. The world was free of sin, death, and pain. God told Adam and Eve that they could eat from any tree in the garden except for one—the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. He said that the day they ate from it, they would die. As time went by, Adam and Eve were tempted by the tree. One day, Satan, in the form of a Serpent entered the garden and convinced them to eat the fruit. Once they both ate the fruit, they were ashamed and could tell the difference between good and evil. God came and found them in the garden because He knew what they’d done. They had to be separated from Him because of their sin, but He promised to send His son to make right what was broken.

GENESIS 2:16-17

16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “You may surely eat of every tree of the garden,
17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”

1 CORINTHIANS 15:24-26

24 Then comes the end, when he delivers the kingdom to God the Father after destroying every rule and every authority and power.
25 For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet.
26 The last enemy to be destroyed is death.
