The Fruit of The Spirit: Goodness
Story summary
Greybobby and friends are shocked when Sheila Slyfox starts doing favors for everyone. They eventually learn that her change of character is caused by “not wanting to owe anybody,” not a genuine change of heart, and share the truth from God’s Word that true goodness isn’t about paying people back or keeping score—it’s about showing the heart of Jesus.
Luke 14:12-14
When you give a dinner or a banquet, do not invite your friends or your brothers or your relatives or rich neighbors, lest they also invite you in return and you be repaid. But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you. you will be repaid at the resurrection of the just.
What Did We Learn?
- True goodness isn’t about paying people back or keeping score—it’s about showing the heart of Jesus.
- True goodness flows from knowing how much He’s done for us. Jesus gave His life for people who could never pay Him back.
- When His Spirit lives in us, He helps us do good for others simply because we love Him.
- That’s what the Fruit of the Spirit is all about—not what we can get, but what God gives through us.
