The Fruit of The Spirit: Faithfulness

Story summary

Greybobby promises to take care of Betty’s begonias while she is away for the weekend, but struggles to keep his word when the local theater hosts an all-day movie marathon, complete with a surprise guest appearance of one of Greybobby’s favorite movie stars. Seeing Greybobby’s unfaithfulness inspires Folly Foal to spring into action to show what true faithfulness looks like.

Galatians 5:22-23

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.”

What Did We Learn?

  •  Faithfulness means keeping your word even when something more exciting comes along.
  • Greybobby didn’t mean to let Betty down, but being faithful isn’t about meaning well—it’s about following through.
  • Thankfully, Folly stepped in and showed everyone what faithfulness looks like, and reminded us of the best news of all: that God is always faithful to us.
  • When God makes a promise, He always keeps it. Jesus is the proof.

Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You that You are always faithful.
You never forget us or fail to keep Your promises.
Please help us to be faithful too—to do what we say we’ll do, even when it’s hard or not as fun.
Thank You for Jesus, who showed Your perfect faithfulness all the way to the cross.
In Jesus’s Name we pray,
Amen.
