Advent Week Two — Jesus Is The Prince of Peace

Story summary

Greybobby and friends are paired up to go on a scavenger hunt to find things that are peaceful, and not peaceful. During their search, personalities clash, and the real search for peace becomes finding peace with one another. In the end, they learn that we only have true peace when we have peace with God.

Isaiah 9:6

For to us a child is born,
    to us a son is given;
and the government shall be upon his shoulder,
and his name shall be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
    Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

What Did We Learn?

  •  Real peace doesn’t come from quiet ponds, soft feathers, or even a delicious piece of cake. Real peace begins inside the heart.
  •  The Bible teaches that we can only have true, lasting peace when we have peace with God.
  •  Jesus came at Christmas to bring that peace. He mends what is broken between us and God by forgiving our sin and welcoming us into His family.
  •  Once our hearts rest in His peace, we can show that same peace and kindness to others, even when it’s hard.

Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for sending Jesus, the Prince of Peace, to make things right between us and You.
We confess that our hearts are often troubled, restless, or angry, and we can’t fix that on our own.
Help us to trust the peace that Jesus gives—the kind the world can’t give and the world can’t take away.
And as You fill our hearts with Your peace, help us to show that peace to others in our words, our actions, and the way we treat one another.
In Jesus’ Name we pray,
Amen.
