Advent Week Three — Jesus Brings True Joy
Story summary
Joy is worried that she won’t win the school’s high-jump competition. As she goes head to head with a new student, Lex “Flex” Ferret, she is reminded that true joy comes from knowing Jesus, trusting His promises, and letting His love fill our hearts.
Luke 2:10
“I bring you good news of great joy for all people.”
What Did We Learn?
- We learned that true joy isn’t about winning, being the best, or having everything go our way.
- True joy comes from knowing Jesus, trusting His promises, and letting His love fill our hearts,no matter what challenges we face, and not matter how dark the situation, just like the people waited in darkness for the Messiah, Jesus to come, and just like we wait for Jesus to return.
- The candle of Joy reminds us during Advent, that God’s light shines in the darkness, and His joy can be our strength every day.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the gift of joy that comes from knowing You.
Help us to trust Your promises, to keep our hearts focused on You, and to find joy in every situation, big or small.
Teach us to bounce through life with hope and confidence, knowing that our worth is in You alone.
Fill our hearts with Your light and love this Advent season.
In Jesus’ Name we pray,
Amen.
