#4: Proverbs 3:5-6 - Trust In The Lord, Not Yourself

Story summary

Greybobby and Betty’s fort-building fun turns into a rescue mission when Greybobby falls into a cave, forcing Betty to rely on Uncle Greybilly’s compass and a proverb to find her way. Along the way she learns to trust in the Lord, and not her own understanding.

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

What did We Learn?

  • Sometimes we trust in what we think more than what God says is true.
  • When we lean on a way that we think is right or just feels right, we can get into big trouble.
  • God wants to make our paths straight. He wants to give us clear directions.
  • He does that through the Bible, but we need to ask Him to help us trust His ways over our own.

Let's Pray

Dear Lord,
Help us not to lean on the rotten wood of our own understanding. Help us to trust You. Point us in the right direction and be the compass that always leads us home.
Amen.
