#21: Proverbs 15:1 - A Soft Answer Calms Anger

Story summary

In this Bible lesson, Greybobby's class gets a stern substitute teacher. They learn a difficult lesson about respecting authority, and a lesson from Proverbs 15:1: how to respond to harsh words.

Proverbs 15:1

A soft answer turns away wrath,
but a harsh word stirs up anger.

What did We Learn?

  • Disrespectfulness can cause angry to build up in someone.
  • A soft answer lets off the pressure and can help us to diffuse a really tense situation.
  • As easy as it sounds, when things get tense it is hard to be the first one who gives a soft answer.
  • We need to ask Jesus to help us to be that one who gives as soft answer.
  • We should pray that He would soften the heart to which we give that soft answer.

Let's Pray

Dear Lord,
It is easy for our conversations to get tense.
Help us to learn how to offer a soft answer and seek a peaceful solution.
Help us be the very first to forgive.
In Jesus’ Name we pray.
Amen.
