#11: Proverbs 9:13-17 - Be Careful of the Company You Keep

Story summary

In this Bible lesson, Greybobby and Betty’s post-Christmas shopping trip takes a wild turn when Folly Foal’s pranks lead them into trouble. Uncle Greybilly’s wisdom from Proverbs reveals that foolishness can trap them, while God’s truth sets them free.

Proverbs 9:13-17

13 The woman Folly is loud;
    she is seductive and knows nothing.
14 She sits at the door of her house;
    she takes a seat on the highest places of the town,
15 calling to those who pass by,
    who are going straight on their way,
16 “Whoever is simple, let him turn in here!”
    And to him who lacks sense she says,
17 “Stolen water is sweet,
    and bread eaten in secret is pleasant.”

What did We Learn?

  • Following foolishness sends us down a wrong path.
  • Jesus teaches us wisdom through His Word and by His Spirit.
  • The more we know and live by that wisdom, the easier it is to know the difference between what is wise and what is foolish.

Let's Pray

Dear Lord,
Help us to know the difference between foolishness and wisdom.
Put your wisdom in our hearts that we may know the correct way to bring glory to you.
In Jesus’ name we pray.
Amen.
