#60: Proverbs 13:20 - The Company You Keep Matters

Story summary

In this Bible lesson, a trip to the Science Museum goes sideways when a suspiciously familiar snake appears to lead the kids astray. When a giant magnifying glass causes a fire, the kids learn a valuable lesson from Proverbs 13:20 and being careful about the company you keep.

Proverbs 13:20

Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise,
but the companion of fools will suffer harm.

What did We Learn?

  • Just like paperclips can be magnetized by being near a magnet, being with the wise rubs off on us.
  • Hanging out with those who are foolish can lead us into harm.
  • If we want our hearts to be wise, not only to we need to hang out with those who show and live out wisdom, but we need to daily go to the Lord and ask Him to give us His wisdom.

Let's Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,
We pray that you would help us to avoid the harm that comes from hanging out with those who are foolish.
Lead us to those who are wise who will rub off on us.
Most importantly, give us your kind of wisdom through the power of the Holy Spirit within our hearts.
In Jesus’ name we pray,
Amen.
