#40: Proverbs 20:6 - Beware Fake Friends

Story summary

With a rafting competition afoot and ice cream at stake, Bart recruits the self-proclaimed “expert rafter” Holly Hyena to lead his team. Holly, however, isn’t as good a rafter as she claims, and Bart and Barbara learn a lesson from Proverbs 20:6 on avoiding fake friends.

Proverbs 20:6

Many a man proclaims his own steadfast love,
but a faithful man who can find?

What did We Learn?

  • Some people talk a good game. They tell how great they are and how much they can do for you, but when it gets difficult their words don’t match their actions.
  • We need to pray that Jesus would give us a heart like His.
  • Jesus keeps His promises, He is faithful when we are not faithful, and He always does what He says He will do.

Let's Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,
Help us to not to pretend or be fake with others.
Help us to let our actions match our words, even when things get difficult.
In Jesus’ Name we pray.
Amen.
