#41: Proverbs 13:12 - Keep Your Eyes On God’s Blessings

Story summary

In this Bible lesson, summer draws to a close, and Greybobby and friends reflect on their summer camp memories. They learn from Proverbs 13:12 that it’s important to remember God’s blessings even if things don’t go the way they hoped and look forward to what the Lord has prepared for them next!

Proverbs 13:12

Hope deferred makes the heart sick,
but a desire fulfilled is a tree of life.

What did We Learn?

  • There are times when our expectations aren’t met and it makes us heartsick.
  • Other times we get to see hopes and dreams fulfilled which gives us joy.
  • We don’t always get the things we want, but the Lord always provides what we need.
  • We need to keep our eyes on the things He has given us and all His many blessings that bring us joy and not focus on what we don’t have that makes our heart sick.
  • I don’t know if you’ve gotten to do amazing things this summer or missed out on something you were really hoping for, but God is bigger than all of that.
  • The Bible says in Psalm 37:4: “Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.”
  • The more our delight is in the Lord the more that He and all His ways are the desire of our heart. When that is where our hope is, we will have joy.

Let's Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,
Help us not to focus on what we don’t have, but all the ways you have blessed us.
Help us to delight in you that you might be our ultimate desire.
In Jesus’ Name we pray.
Amen!
