Story summary

In this Bible story, Greybobby and Betty’s grandfather flies in to attend their Grandparent’s Day celebration, and Betty struggles with feeling out of place in her adopted family. Their grandfather comforts her by sharing Proverbs 17:6, and that he is very proud to call her his granddaughter.

Proverbs 17:6

Grandchildren are the crown of the aged,
and the glory of children is their fathers.

What did We Learn?

  • Sometimes we can feel ignored and out of place in our family.
  • Parents and families get busy and we don’t always take the time to tell each other how much we love each other.
  • God gave us grandparents to show us just a fraction—just a glimmer— of His love for us.
  • He made grandchildren a source of joy and pride for them.
  • That ultimately just points us back to one big truth: When we trust in Jesus, He makes us part of His forever family. He will never ever let us go.

Let's Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for grandparents who show us just a glimmer of the love you have for us. May we honor them and be a blessing and a source of joy for them because we walk with the Lord.
Help us to remember that when we trust in you, we belong to the greatest family of all: your family.
It’s in Jesus’ Name we pray.
Amen.
