#55: Proverbs 10:12 - Love Covers All Offenses

Story summary

In this Bible lesson, Bart and Barbara are both on kitchen cleanup duty. They quickly get on each others' nerves and, before long, their quarreling creates an even bigger mess to clean up. They ultimately learn a lesson from Proverbs 10:12 and that hatred strips up strife, but love covers all offenses.

Proverbs 10:12

Hatred stirs up strife,
    but love covers all offenses.

What did We Learn?

  • When we are upset with each other, we stir up strife and argue angrily with each other.
  • When we allow the Holy Spirit to teach us the love of Jesus, we are more willing to cover over or overlook the offenses of others. Like broccoli covered with cheese, it makes their offenses a little easier to swallow.

Let's Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,
We thank you that you have given us your love through Jesus.
We pray that everyone out there listening would out their faith in Jesus and that their offenses would be covered over by Jesus.
Help us to bear with others and to overlook their offenses, because, in Jesus, you overlooked ours.
In Jesus’ Name we pray,
Amen.
