#72: Proverbs 20:14 - Treat Others Fairly
Story summary
In this Bible lesson, Greybobby’s class learns about bartering by trading their possessions. Bart brings a prized family heirloom- a cuckoo clock wristwatch- to trade, but quickly becomes discouraged when Sheila Slyfox is unimpressed. Little does he know that Sheila knows more about the wristwatch than she lets on... and plans to take it away from Bart. The ensuing incidents help the kids learn from Proverbs 20:14 to treat others fairly.
Proverbs 20:14
“Bad, bad,” says the buyer,
but when he goes away, then he boasts.
but when he goes away, then he boasts.
What did We Learn?
- Being honest and fair in how we treat others is important to God.
- Sometimes people try to get a better deal by making something seem worse than it really is, just so they can take advantage of someone else.
- Jesus calls us to be different. He wants us to love others the way He loves us—with honesty, kindness, and fairness.
- We can’t do that on our own, but when we follow Jesus, He changes our hearts and helps us to do what is right.
- He helps us to deal with others fairly, to honor Him and show the world what His love is like.
Let's Pray
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for showing us what is good and right.
Help us to be honest and fair in how we treat others, just as You are always good and just with us.
Give us hearts that seek to honor You in all we do, and remind us that we need Jesus to help us love others the way You want us to.
Fill us with His kindness and truth so that we can reflect Your love to the world.
In Jesus’ Name we pray,
Amen.
