#78: Proverbs 21:11 - The Wise Learn From Instruction
Story summary
In this Bible lesson, there’s a new kid in town: Milo Mockingbird, who lives up to his name through his hurtful mocking. Greybobby, Red, and Joy seek advice from Uncle Greybilly and, with the help of a talking parrot, are quickly able to turn the tables on Milo. Seeing Milo get his comeuppance teaches Bart about the consequences of bad behavior. Ultimately, everyone learns from Proverbs 21:11 that the wise learn from instruction, and the simple learn from seeing consequences.
Proverbs 21:11
When a scoffer is punished, the simple becomes wise;
when a wise man is instructed, he gains knowledge.
when a wise man is instructed, he gains knowledge.
What did We Learn?
- We learned that people who mock or make fun of others often don’t realize how hurtful their words can be—until they get a taste of their own medicine.
- Proverbs 21:11 reminds us that wise people learn from instruction, but sometimes the “simple” need to see the consequences of bad behavior to understand right from wrong.
- Let’s pray that God would help us to be the kind of people who learn more from instruction than from our mistakes.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for teaching us how important our words are.
Help us to be kind and thoughtful with what we say, and give us the wisdom to learn from instruction instead of from mistakes.
Please help us be patient with people who are still learning, and to be good friends who build each other up.
In Jesus’s Name we pray,
Amen.
