#85: Proverbs 22:5 - Walk In Wisdom
Story summary
School’s out for the summer, and everyone is off to summer camp. Unfortunately, Sheila’s impatience and Gramps Greely’s hearing lead to an unexpected detour... off the road and into a ditch. The kids split up to go find help. Greybobby, Betty, and Red decide to follow a clear path up a mountain, while Sheila, Milo, Bart, and Venomous decide to go “the easy way...” into the woods, thorns, and unexpected traps. They learn the lesson of Proverbs 22:5, and to always walk in wisdom.
Proverbs 22:5
Thorns and snares are in the way of the crooked;
whoever guards his soul will keep far from them.
whoever guards his soul will keep far from them.
What did We Learn?
- When we ignore wisdom and go our own way, it often leads to trouble—not just for us, but for those around us.
- That doesn’t mean life is always easy when we do what’s right—but it does mean we avoid a lot of unnecessary pain. Staying on the path of wisdom, even when it’s hard or slower, is usually the safer way.
- We all need help. Just like the kids on the bus, we often try to fix things ourselves or think we know best, but we end up stuck. That’s why we need Jesus. He is the Good Shepherd who not only shows us the right path but rescues us when we go off it.
- Instead of trusting only ourselves, we’re called to trust in Him—to follow His voice, listen to His Word, and depend on His grace when we’ve messed up. Because even when we’ve gone down the wrong path, Jesus is the one who can bring us back.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for being patient with us when we go the wrong way.
Help us to trust You and walk in wisdom, even when it’s hard.
We know that Jesus is the one who saves us, forgives us, and leads us back when we get lost.
Teach us to listen to His voice and follow Him every day.
In Jesus’ name we pray,
Amen.
