Easter Is About Jesus!

Jesus is risen... and that changes everything.!

Story summary

In this devotional, Greybobby and friends are transported to Bunnyville, a place full of Easter eggs and fun. Though they are easily distracted by all of the festivities, they remember that, while there’s nothing wrong with fun and celebration, Easter is ultimately about Jesus.

1 Corinthians 15:3-4

For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.

What Did We Learn?

  • That empty egg felt like a disappointment, but it wasn’t. It pointed to something far greater than candy, baskets, or even a golden carrot.  It pointed to the truth that Jesus died on the cross for our sins, and three days later, when His followers came to the tomb expecting to find Him, the tomb was empty. Jesus had risen.
  • He defeated sin. He defeated death. And because He lives, we can have forgiveness, new life, and hope that never runs out.
  • Easter is fun. The eggs, the candy, the celebration. There's nothing wrong with fun. There's nothing wrong with good gifts.
  • But we must never let those things distract us from the greatest prize of all: Not something we can hold, but Someone who is alive.
  • Jesus is risen...and that changes everything.

Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for sending Your Son, Jesus, to die on the cross for our sins.
Thank You that the story didn’t end there, but that three days later, the tomb was empty because Jesus is alive.
Help us not to get distracted by the things of this world, even good things, and forget what Easter is really about.
Help us to trust in Jesus, to follow Him, and to rejoice in the new life He gives.
In Jesus’s Name we pray,
Amen.
