The Simple Catechism #22
What do we call God making all things new?
Glorification.
Story summary
In this simple catechism lesson, Greybobby and friends visit Greyrock Castle, Greybobby's ancestral home, and the original headquarters of C.O.V.E.N.A.N.T. They meet a very grumpy steer who is overseeing a restoration of the castle, and learn about how God makes all things new through glorification.
Philippians 3:20-21
But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.
What Did We Learn?
- Today we learned that God is not finished with His people or His world.
- Just like Greyrock Castle had fallen into ruin but was being restored stone by stone, God is restoring all who belong to Him.
- Sin has broken this world and broken us, but through Jesus Christ, God promises something wonderful: one day He will make all things new.
- We also learned that distractions can pull our eyes away from what really matters. Venemous tried to lure everyone away from the castle with promises of entertainment and excitement. In the same way, the world often distracts us from God's promises. But God's people are called to keep looking forward to the day when Jesus returns.
- The Bible calls that future hope glorification. One day, Jesus will transform His people to be like Him and will restore creation completely. No more sin. No more sadness. No more pain. Everything will be made new for God's glory.
- Until that day, we keep trusting Jesus, building our lives on His promises, and remembering that our true citizenship is in heaven.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for Your promise to make all things new through Jesus Christ.
Help us not to be distracted by the things of this world, but to keep our eyes fixed on You.
Remind us that one day You will finish the work You have begun in us and transform us into the people You created us to be.
Give us faith, patience, and hope as we wait for that glorious day.
In Jesus' name we pray,
Amen.
