What Happens When People Who Trust Jesus Die?

Story summary

In this simple catechism lesson, Greybobby and friends journey to the Valley of Cocoons where they learn about the residents’ hope for a beautiful land, and new life after a long sleep. The stories of caterpillars and cocoons remind them of the truth about death for believers: when we die, we go to be with Jesus in heaven until He comes again to give us resurrection bodies.

Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord.

What Did We Learn?

When people who trust in Jesus die, that is not the end of their story. The Bible tells us that believers go to be with Jesus in heaven.
Then, when Jesus comes again, He will raise our bodies and make them new, just like His glorious resurrection body.
The butterflies gave us a wonderful picture of that hope. A cocoon may not look like its alive, but one day it is transformed into something beautiful.
In a far greater way, everyone who belongs to Jesus will one day be raised, never to die again, never to be sick again, and never to sin again.
That means if someone you love trusted in Jesus, you can have hope. Because of Jesus' resurrection, death is not the end. One day, everyone who belongs to Him will be together again, living with Him forever.

Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You that because Jesus died and rose again, we do not have to fear death.
Thank You that when those who trust in Jesus die, they go to be with Him, and that one day You will give them glorious resurrection bodies.
Help us to trust in Jesus, to find comfort in Your promises, and to look forward with joy to the day when You make all things new.
In Jesus' Name we pray,
