The Simple Catechism #11

Who Wrote The Bible?

Chosen people who wrote the words breathed out by The Holy Spirit.

Story summary

In this simple catechism lesson, Greybobby and friends compete against Bart, Sheila, and Oliver to convince a newspaper to print truth instead of spreading gossip and sensational stories. They are reminded that, unlike rumors and hearsay, the Bible is trustworthy and true because it was written by chosen people who wrote the words breathed out by the Holy Spirit.

2 Timothy 3:16

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.

What Did We Learn?

  • Not every story can be trusted.
  • Some people are more interested in spreading gossip and sensational stories than telling the truth.
  • The Bible isn’t like a rumor whispered from one person to another. It wasn’t made up or passed along as hearsay.
  • Instead, God chose people and breathed out His words through them.
  • By the Holy Spirit, what those people wrote was true, trustworthy, and useful for teaching us how to live.
  • That means we can rely on the Bible, not as gossip, but as God’s very Word to us.

Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for giving us Your Word through the people You chose and inspired by Your Holy Spirit.
Help us to trust the Bible as truth and to learn from it so we can grow in righteousness.
Teach us to love what is true and not be led astray by things that are not.
In Jesus' Name we pray,
Amen.
