The Simple Catechism #15
Why Should We Tell Others About Jesus?
Because without Jesus, they will be separated from God forever.
Story summary
In this simple catechism lesson, Greybobby and friends find themselves trapped on one side of a great chasm with no way to get across, except on the back of a very large, and very scary, eagle. They realize that the chasm is a lot like their sin: they can’t overcome it on their own. They realize that just like they must tell Bart, Sheila, and Oliver about the eagle, and that they must tell others about Jesus. Because without Jesus, people will be separated from God forever.
Matthew 28:19
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit
What Did We Learn?
- Jesus is the only way to be saved.
- Our sin separates us from God, and there’s no way we can cross that gap on our own. No amount of trying harder or being better can get us there.
- But God made a way.
- Jesus came to rescue us. He lived a perfect life, died on the cross for our sins, and rose again so that we could be brought back to God.
- Jesus doesn’t just show us the way, He is the way.
- If Jesus is the only way to be saved, then people need to hear about Him.
- We don’t tell others about Jesus just because it’s a nice thing to do, we tell them because without Him, they are separated from God forever.
- With Jesus, they can be forgiven, loved, and brought near to God.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for making a way for us to be saved through Jesus when there was no other way.
Thank You for loving us enough to rescue us and bring us to Yourself.
Help us to remember that there are people all around us who don’t know You yet.
Give us courage to tell them about Jesus, even when it feels scary or difficult.
Help us to love others enough to share the truth with them.
And we pray that many people would come to know and trust in Jesus.
In Jesus’ name we pray,
Amen.
