Story summary

In this simple catechism lesson, Greybobby and friends venture to “Holy Ghost Town” to save Uncle Greybilly. As mudslinging banditos close in, the kids learn that The Hold Spirit gives us a new heart to love and serve God more.

John 14:26

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.

What Did We Learn?

The Holy Spirit is the One who helps us love and obey God. The Holy Spirit is Who changes us from the inside out.
On our own, we do not naturally love God or obey Him. Sin pulls our hearts away from Him.
But Jesus came to save sinners by dying on the cross and rising again, and when He saves us, He does not leave us the same.
The Holy Spirit comes to live in God’s people and begins changing their hearts. He teaches us God’s truth, reminds us of His Word, and helps us follow Jesus more and more.
That is why Oliver suddenly cared about doing what was right. That is why he set me and Uncle Greybilly free and rescued,Greybobby and the others instead of helping Sheila attack them. The Holy Spirit was giving him a new desire to follow Jesus instead of fighting against Him.
When you want to obey God, love others, turn away from sin, and follow Jesus, that is not something you do by your own power alone.
You have to ask the Holy Spirit to help you. We should do that now.

Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for sending Jesus to save us from our sins.
Thank You for giving us the Holy Spirit to help us love and obey You.
Thank You that You do not leave us alone, but You teach us, guide us, and change our hearts from the inside out.
Please help us listen to Your Word, follow Jesus faithfully, and grow to love what is good and true.
Make us more like Jesus every day.
In Jesus’ name we pray,
