The Simple Catechism #10
What Is The Bible?
The Bible is God's special book. In it God breathes out His promises to us.
Story summary
In this simple catechism lesson, Greybobby and friends find themselves in Sheepleton, where the locals blindly follow whatever the latest teaching is… and where Sheila has declared herself to be their queen. Joy’s knowledge of Scripture helps teach everyone that not everything that sounds convincing is true, and that the Bible is God's special book. In it God breathes out His promises to us.
Hebrews 4:12
For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
What Did We Learn?
- Just because something sounds convincing, that does not mean that it is true.
- The Bible isn’t just any book, it is God’s special book, where He breathes out His promises to us.
- Because it is living and active, it helps us know what is true and what is not.
- We must not follow every voice we hear, but stand on the truth of God’s Word.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for giving us Your Word, the Bible, as our guide and source of truth.
Help us to read it, remember it, and stand on it, even when the world tries to distract or mislead us.
Fill our hearts with love for Your promises and courage to follow them each day.
In Jesus' Name we pray,
Amen.
