The Simple Catechism #14
Did Jesus Ever Sin?
No! Jesus was like us in every way but He did not sin.
Story summary
In this simple catechism lesson, Bart, Sheila, and Oliver find themselves in a world just like their own… except everything is opposite. As they confront “bad” versions of Greybobby and friends, they learn that even if people change for better or worse, Jesus does not. Jesus was like us in every way but He did not sin.
Hebrews 4:15
For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.
What Did We Learn?
- While people can change for better or worse, Jesus never sinned, not once.
- He was tempted just like us, He understands our struggles, but He always chose what was right.
- That means Jesus is perfectly good, perfectly trustworthy, and perfectly able to save us.
- When we fail, when we sin, and when we feel confused about right and wrong, we can look to Him.
- He doesn’t just show us the right way, He is the way.
- And because He never sinned, He can forgive us and help us follow Him, even when the world around us feels upside down.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for sending Jesus, who understands us and yet never sinned.
Thank You that He is perfectly good and that we can trust Him in every situation.
Help us to follow in His steps, and give us the power to turn away from sin, and to choose what is right, even when it is hard.
Thank You that through Jesus we are forgiven and made new.
In Jesus's Name we pray,
Amen.
